North Sea Cables Norge AS was established in Norway in 1989, as a daughter company of Scottish North Sea Cables Ltd. In the first years the sales were mainly based on surplus cable, but from 1994 all offshore cable was produced by Delta Crompton Cables Ltd. The sales increased, and in 1995 the company achieved a contract with Phillips Petroleum for delivery of all instrument cables for the Ekofisk II project.
After three years as distributor of Delta cable, NSC started a new co-operation with Draka Norsk Kabel AS, and we are today their largest distributor of offshore cable. In the mid 90’s we also started to stock ships cable, where we soon built up a good market share. Up to 2003 the company was a part of the Noskab Group, with divisions all over the world. We have during these years built up a great experience and knowledge of cable. From year 2000 we have also stocked Polyrad XT Type P (high flexibility, mud-resistant cable), which are produced by General Cables Inc in USA. In 2003 there were changes in the ownership in the Noskab Group, and from the 1st of April 2003 we purchased the company in a management buyout. Today North Sea Cables Norge AS is a 100 % Norwegian owned company, where all the shares are owned by the employees. When writing this in January 2007, we can look back on 4 very successful years. The offshore oil industry has enjoyed a major boom, and sales & market share at NSC have increased tremendously. In 2006 we passed NOK 90.000.000,- in turnover. As of 1st of April 2007, the number of full time employees at NSC will be 11. We have increased with 4 people since 2003. Today we also have a person from an agency employed in a 100 % position in our warehouse. Due to the high activity in the company, we have invested in an extra cutting machine & an extra fork-lift truck. The fork-lift truck is a Mitsubishi FD35N type, w/ weight indicator, and will be of great help to the 5 people employed in the warehouse.
